Description

The Stratificata Round Platter brings depth and movement to the table through hand-painted detail and a broad serving surface. Its generous size allows the pattern to open naturally across the piece, revealing the structure and balance of the design.

A softly scalloped edge adds movement to the form. Petal-inspired motifs create depth through layered repetition. Warm yellow accents and deep cobalt detailing bring contrast and energy to the luminous white surface. Fine hand-painted linework adds texture while maintaining a clean and balanced composition.

Designed for gathering-style dining, the platter works beautifully for antipasti, main courses, desserts, and shared presentations. It can also serve as a statement centerpiece within the Stratificata collection. Substantial yet refined, it brings the presence of artisan ceramics to the table while remaining elegant and functional.

Each piece is formed and painted entirely by hand in Deruta, Italy. No transfers. No stencils. Slight variations in brushwork and glaze reflect the artisan’s hand and make every piece one of a kind.

Variations and the Nature of Hand Painting

Each piece is made and painted by hand in Italy, so slight variations are not flaws—they are part of what makes the work authentic.

You may notice small differences in brushstroke, color intensity, shape, glaze movement, rim finish, or surface texture from one piece to the next. These subtle irregularities are a natural result of hand-forming, hand-painting, and kiln firing, and are part of the character and individuality of artisan ceramics.

No two pieces are ever exactly alike. That uniqueness is the beauty.

Rather than signs of mass production, these variations reflect the human hand behind each object and the traditional process used to create it. They are what give the collection warmth, depth, and a sense of life at the table.

Care & Use

Care & Use

Craft & Safety

Each piece is double-fired at approximately 900°C and is 100% food safe. All glazes and colors are free of lead and cadmium and are regularly tested to comply with FDA standards.

Cleaning

Hand washing is strongly recommended to preserve the original finish and vibrancy of the glaze. While the pieces may be placed in a dishwasher, frequent or daily dishwasher use is discouraged. If using a dishwasher, position items securely and with space between them to prevent contact during high-pressure cycles.

Microwave Use

Pieces may be used in a microwave at low power. Handle with care when removing, as ceramic retains heat. As with all earthenware, avoid sudden or extreme temperature changes. Do not transfer directly from cold storage to high heat. When serving hot liquids, pour slowly to prevent thermal shock.

About Crazing

Earthenware naturally expands and contracts with temperature and humidity changes. Over time, fine hairline cracks—known as crazing—may appear in the glaze. Crazing does not affect the safety or functionality of the piece and is often considered part of the character of handmade ceramics. Minimizing exposure to high heat and repeated dishwasher cycles will help preserve the original surface appearance for as long as possible.
