Description
Stratificata is composed as architecture for the table.
The setting begins with a round charger, finished in a saturated cobalt field with a hand-applied sponged effect. Its smooth, uninterrupted silhouette establishes a grounded foundation — bold, weighty, and intentionally restrained.
From there, the composition transitions. The dinner plate, rimmed soup plate, and appetizer plate are all formed with scalloped edges, introducing contour and rhythm. This shift from round to sculpted was deliberate. The charger anchors. The upper layers animate.
As each piece is added, ornament builds gradually. Radial geometry tightens. Tonal layering deepens. The structured symmetry of the inner plates plays against the solidity of the charger beneath. The result is depth without excess — movement without disorder.
This collection was not designed to be mixed randomly. It was composed to work together — each layer reinforcing the next.
Every piece is formed and painted entirely by hand in Deruta, Italy. No transfers. No stencils. Subtle variation in brush pressure, glaze pooling, and pigment saturation are inherent to the process and are evidence of the artisan’s hand.

Care & Use
Craft & Safety
Each piece is double-fired at approximately 900°C and is 100% food safe. All glazes and pigments are free of lead and cadmium and are regularly tested to comply with FDA standards.
Cleaning
Hand washing is strongly recommended to preserve the original finish and vibrancy of the glaze. While dishwasher use is possible, frequent cycles may soften surface brilliance over time. If using a dishwasher, position pieces securely with space between them to prevent contact during high-pressure cycles.
Microwave Use
Pieces may be used in a microwave at low power. Handle with care when removing, as ceramic retains heat. Avoid sudden or extreme temperature changes. Do not transfer directly from cold storage to high heat. When serving hot liquids, pour gradually to reduce risk of thermal shock.
About Crazing
Earthenware naturally expands and contracts with temperature and humidity changes. Over time, fine hairline lines—known as crazing—may appear in the glaze. Crazing does not affect the safety or functionality of the piece and is considered part of the evolving character of handmade ceramic.
